A new innovation in laser surgery has more patients than ever opening their eyes to the latest improvements of LASIK vision correction.
The FDA's recent approval of the ZYOPTIX Advanced Control Eyetracking (ACE) system provides more comprehensive iris recognition during LASIK surgery. Small movements of a patients eye during surgery is common, and the ACE technology greatly increases the precision of the lasers to compensate for these movements. Greater laser accuracy and control can help patients with previously difficult conditions, such as astigmatism, be successfully treated with LASIK. This advancement in LASIK technology is only available with the TECHNOLAS Excimer Workstation produced by Technolas Perfect Vision of Munich, Germany, and is available locally at International Eyecare Center.
"The latest leaps forward in technology are amazing," said Teresa Carter, President of International Eyecare Center. "People who have been told that they are not viable candidates for LASIK vision correction now have the opportunity to have the procedure done, with fantastic results. We can now tell more patients 'yes', and that truly impacts the lives of our patients. "
Carter believes that the new technology will have patients giving LASIK a second look when considering their overall eye healthcare options such as eyeglasses and contact lenses.
"IEC keeps expanding and improving our LASIK capabilities. We have added the Technolas surgical capabilities to our LASIK Center, and have given new possibilities to our patients with high myopia, astigmatism, hyperopia, and other previously difficult LASIK conditions. IEC is continuing to invest in the latest technology, and we are giving our patients the opportunity to have eyecare options not previously available in this area. It gives patients a real choice in their care."
